 Target for potable water sector

  • The ministerial plan targeted full coverage during the next two years through ongoing plans and programs .
  • National Project for provision of 240 unserved villages : Its estimated cost is about LE 2 blns, Funded partially by Arab Fund for Economic &Social Development , with KD 47 M .this project is due for completion by the end of 2002-2007 plan .
  • Insufficiently provided villages :55 integrated projects ( plants +networks ) with total capacity of 3.5 MM3/d and total cost of about 
  •  LE 5 blns .40 extension projects for existing plants ,with total capacity of 1.2 Mm3/d and LE 2.2 blns investments . these projects were awarded to specialized companies for their implementation on priority basis to severly deficient areas and villages .

Targeting for sanitary Drainage sector

1- Completion of full coverage on the rural level till 2022 .

Using advanced economic techniques :

Due to the huge investment requirements (about LE 80 blns )for full rural coverage ,the Ministry had to adopt a new strategy for modernizing the national samtary drainage planning of rural areas , depending upon :

  • New , unconventional economic systems and surface networks , complying with the rural conditions with the safe disposal of treated water.
  • Use , whenever possible , of local material for reduction of investment cost .
  • Prioritizing the nearly villages to water streams .

2- Drain self treatment : as unconventional solution pending the completion of samtary drainage projects in the rural areas in full Co-ordination with:

  • Competent Ministries
  • Research entities :for raising The self treatment capacity of open drains .

Two research projects are development at Kaluub and Belbais pending their application on the national level during the present and coming plan .
