Introduction :

The phenomena of new urban communities had been emphasized by the beginning of the twentieth century in England. Therefore, many countries had evolved such an idea as this was foreseen as the proper solution for overcrowded urban agglomeration through establishing new urban communities that provide job opportunities, housing and services in a healthy environment

The era of new urban communities in Egypt has been evolved by the mid seventieth, where the government focused efforts towards achieving a comprehensive sustainable development throughout population redistribution and empowering the utilization of physical, human and economic resources of the country

Egypt has utilized the internationally drawn lessons onto a unique collection of local experiences through different generations of new urban communities with different economic bases and objectives. Influences of international experiences were very comprehensive through the first generation of the Egyptian new urban communities, from Sweden, UK, USA, the Netherlands and Germany

More recently, after thirty years of the Egyptian experiences in new urban communities, it is time to evaluate these experiences with their success and failure issues, opportunities and threats, in order to capitalize the current and potential resources in parallel with what was achieved through the economic and legislative restructuring looking forward to a more promising future

The Egyptian Ministry of Housing aims that this international event would be a great opportunity to present and discuss with deep details on the local and international experiences in new urban communities towards achieving contemporary benefits supporting the urban development and new communities' improvements
